How to clean an oven with baking soda?

We love baking soda for cleaning! Baking soda is natural and it s effective at cleaning grease and stains. And, of course, it can be used to clean your oven. Here’s how:

  1. First, clear the oven of any big and loose food debris, as they’ll be in your way. If you use a scraper, try to not scratch the inside of the oven;
  2. Make a paste with the baking soda and water. You’ll need enough paste to cover the oven’s surface. A good starting point is 1/2 cup baking soda and 3 tablespoons water. To achieve the desired consistency, add more or less water as needed;
  3. Spread the paste over the entire surface of the oven, making sure to get into all of the corners and crevices;
  4. Spray the paste with vinegar. Baking soda and vinegar will react which will help you by loosening the stuck food;
  5. Allow the paste to sit for a few hours or overnight. This will allow the paste to do its job of loosening the grime and stains;
  6. Using a sponge or scrub brush, scrub the oven clean. To remove difficult spots, you may need to use a little elbow grease. Scrub all of the oven’s surfaces, including the sides, bottom, and door;
  7. Wipe down the oven with a wet rag to get  rid of any leftover grime or paste;
  8. To remove any remaining residue, rinse the cloth and wipe the oven again;

This procedure should clean the surface of your oven properly, but it may not reach deep into the crevices and corners. If your oven is very dirty, you may need tto get a commercial oven cleaner or perform some physical scrubbing to thoroughly clean it.
